Welding Helper
Job Overview
We are a family ran custom metal fabrication shop located in Decatur, GA. We work on a wide variety of projects and pride ourselves on being adaptable, resourceful, and knowledgeable about metal fabrication. Our work is never limited to just one type of project. We fabricate custom fences, automatic gates, railings, security cages, commercial products, and custom components for manufacturing companies throughout Georgia. Because every project can be different, we're looking for someone who is comfortable learning, problem-solving, and working with a variety of materials and fabrication processes.
We are looking for a motivated, hands-on Welding Helper to support our custom fabrication projects. This part-time position is ideal for someone with some metal shop experience who enjoys working with their hands and takes pride in clean, efficient work.
You'll assist with material preparation, grinding, cutting, measuring, shop organization, and supporting welders on active projects. As your skills grow, there may be opportunities to take on additional fabrication responsibilities. We're a small shop, so reliability, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic matter. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants exposure to real-world custom fabrication rather than repetitive production work.

Responsibilities
Assist with measuring, cutting, and prepping steel components
Set up welding machines properly based on materials and job needs
Support welders with material fit-up and part alignment
Operate grinders, saws, and basic shop tools
Read and follow simple fabrication plans or shop sketches
Help with shop clean-up, deliveries, and tool organization
Occasionally run errands or pick up materials as needed
Requirements
1+ year experience in a fabrication or welding environment
Comfortable using grinders, saws, and handling raw metal
MIG, TIG and Stick weld
Ability to read blueprints
Able to follow instructions and safely support welding operations
Familiar with reading basic drawings or fabrication layouts
Must have reliable transportation

Experience:
